Shasta Reads is a community-wide celebration of early literacy where young children throughout Shasta County read the Shasta Reads book. The 2026 Shasta Reads book is Be Kind by Pat Zietlow Miller. Early childcare sites through 2nd grade are eligible to participate and will receive a free copy of the book, an activity guide, and stickers for children.
